Annual Scientific Dissemination Meeting, 2022

The program, in collaboration with Moi University, held the 2022 Annual Scientific Dissemination Meeting between Monday, 1st August 2022 and Tuesday, 2nd August 2022 at Maanzoni Hotel, in Machakos county. The main theme of the meeting was “Use of surveillance data to inform Responses to Public Health Emergencies in Kenya: Focus on communicable and non-communicable Diseases”. The key thematic areas for Day 1 were Disease Surveillance and Outbreak Investigation, HIV and TB, Non-Communicable Diseases, Zoonoses/One Health, Neglected Tropical Diseases, Family Health, Vector-Borne Diseases among others. The 2nd day was dedicated to disseminating findings from Malaria related activities.

Some of the key guests who graced the event include: Dr. Patrick Amoth, Director-General at Ministry of Health; Dr. Francis Kuria, Director Directorate of Public Health; Dr. Terrence Lo, FETP Coordinator at CDC Kenya; Dr. Linus Ndegwa, IPC Coordinator at CDC Kenya, Dr Sarah-Blythe Ballard, President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) Advisor at CDC. Others who attended the event include representatives from the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), Moi University, Kenyatta University, and key strategic programs from the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Co-operatives (MALFC).

The presenters were drawn from the residents and alumni of the Advanced Level program, and graduates of the Basic/Frontline Epi training, Intermediate Epi training and the IMPACT Masters Program.
