ONE HEALTH FRONTLINE FETP TRAINING

The One Health Frontline Epidemiology (OHFL) program is a pivotal initiative aimed at enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration to address public health challenges at the human-animal-environment interface. Kenya was among six countries in Africa selected to pilot and evaluate this innovative training approach. The pilot training was set to inform how to improve the first OHFL training curriculum.

In June 2023, Kenya FELTP recruited the inaugural cohort of thirty healthcare workers from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock for the training. The training comprised of three courses held at different dates and locations, facilitated through comprehensive didactic learning and project implementation at their workstations. Participants presented their field project findings during the final course in August 2023, which were evaluated by the facilitators using a standardized tool.

Ultimately, 83% of the participants graduated within the specified timeline.
