District Health Management Team (DHMT) training in basic applied epidemiology in Ruiru and Karatina Districts of Central province.
The Kenya FELTP resident attached to Central Province, Kenya participated in a District Health Management Team (DHMT) training in basic applied epidemiology in Ruiru and Karatina Districts of Central province from 17 – 19 June 2013 in Karatina and 24 -26 June 2013 in Ruiru district.
The objectives of the training were to develop competencies in basic epidemiology and public health surveillance in the two districts, to sensitize the hospital staff on their role in surveillance and to promote capacity building in the districts on effective outbreak investigations and response.
The training targeted District Health Management Team (DHMT) members in-charge of the various departments in the two districts and key hospital in charges at Karatina District Hospital and Ruiru District Hospital. The workshop was attended by a total of 15 participants in each district making a total of 30 participants.
The training was facilitated by epidemiologists from the provincial level, and the DMOH Karatina and Ruiru districts.
