Measles and Anthrax outbreak in Western Kenya
Two teams comprised of Cohort IX residents participated in a twin outbreak of measles and anthrax from 24 – 30 June 2013 in Western Kenya. The teams were directly under the supervision of the provincial epidemiologist Nyanza and Western provinces. The preliminary report indicates a total of 33 measles cases mainly children under 5 years and over 30 human anthrax cases all reporting exposure to animals that were sick or handling of carcasses. The residents are required to present the final report by 5 July 2013.
