FELTP ADVANCED LEVEL TRAINING CURRICULUM REVIEW

The Kenya Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Centres for Disease Control in Kenya, and the Moi University held a 4 days workshop at the Alps Hotel in Nakuru between the 31st of January 2023 and the 3rd of February 2023. The agenda of the meeting was to complete the review of the FETP Advanced Level training curriculum. The FELTP Advanced Level is the highest tier of training by Kenya FELTP. It is a 2-year training in Field Epidemiology and Laboratory skills that culminates in the trainees acquiring the set-out competencies and a Masters's Degree in Field Epidemiology (MSc. Field Epidemiology). The trainees are usually government technical staff from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Development.

The review process will ensure that the curriculum is updated with relevant and current content. It will also ensure that the minimum requirements set out by the Commission of University Education (CUE) and Moi university are complied with in the curriculum.

The team which was composed of lecturers, supervisors, quality managers, alumni of the Advanced level training, field coordinators, program funders, AFENET representatives, and CDC representatives reviewed the various sections of the curriculum. The document will now undergo the Moi University approval process.

Also present during the workshop were the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) Country representative and the training manager.
