Kenya FELTP Marks Completion of Advanced FETP Cohort 20 Training
The Kenya Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP) held a completion ceremony on 28 January 2025 to mark the successful conclusion of training for Cohort 20 of the Advanced FETP level. The event took place at the Afya Annex Building, Kenya National Public Health Institute (KNPHI) grounds and brought together residents, FELTP faculty and.jpeg staff, and KNPHI leadership.
During the ceremony, selected residents presented key findings from their thesis projects, highlighting the breadth and impact of their work in disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, and public health response. These presentations demonstrated the residents’ ability to apply advanced epidemiological skills to real-world public health challenges.
FELTP leadership congratulated the cohort on completing the intensive two-year in-service training and emphasized the importance of timely completion of academic requirements to attain the Master’s degree in Field Epidemiology. Residents were encouraged to continue engaging with the program as alumni and to apply their skills in strengthening public health systems at county, national, and regional levels.
KNPHI leadership reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to supporting trained epidemiologists beyond graduation, including ongoing efforts to strengthen post-training engagement and career pathways. Residents were also encouraged to contribute to national and regional scientific platforms, including submission of abstracts to upcoming public health conferences.
The ceremony concluded with the awarding of certificates of completion, officially recognizing the residents’ completion of the Advanced FETP training, followed by a celebratory cake-cutting session.
